Conduct Review Committee

The establishment of a Conduct Review Committee panel is a statutory requirement with the definition of the Conduct Review Committee being detailed in the Model Code of Conduct. The Model Code of Conduct defines the Conduct Review Committee as follows:-

“a committee of three or more persons independent of council who are selected from those appointed by council to review allegations of breaches of the code of conduct by councillors or the general manager in accordance with the procedures set out in Sections 12, 13 and 14.”

Council under S440 of the Local Government Act 1993 is required to adopt a code of conduct that incorporates the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct (or is consistent with the Model Code). This includes the requirement on Council to establish conduct review committees to consider relevant complaints about the conduct of councillors and /or the general manager
