Councillor Alan Hunter

Contact Nos:  02 6684 7259 and 0428 657 549

Alan Hunter is a local farmer who has been married to Pauline for 43 years and has two daughters and five grandchildren.
His family chose to move to Byron Shire in 2004 where they run cattle on acreage at Myocum and are regenerating their native forest.
Alan cares deeply about the future of his family and his community, which is why he has held numerous volunteer positions including long term chairman of the national Grain Legume peak industry body, and became a local Councillor in 2012.
This focus means concentrating on long-term planning, not only making sure we look after the environment for the next generation, but also making sure Council doesn't live beyond its means now to saddle future residents with huge expenses and poor services in the process.
Alan’s commitment to Byron Shire includes working to achieve a balanced mix of growth alongside safeguarding what the area is best known for - its natural and environmental beauty.
This means helping small business to prosper and create jobs, providing much needed infrastructure, and ensuring the community works together, not against each other, for a better Byron Shire.

Cr Hunter has been a Councillor with Byron Shire Council since September 2012.
