New Brighton Beach scraping - Commenced in November

Council undertook beach scraping works from 11 November to 2 December 2013. The works extended approximately 1.3 km from the beach access at North Head Road to the Park Street beach access at Kendall’s Groyne, New Brighton. Dune re-vegetation works are to commence on the 4 December 2013.

A report will be tabled in the New Year that examines the success of the works in terms of project objectives. These objectives include improving beach access and amenity and increasing the sand volume in the foredune to provide a greater short term buffer against coastal erosion and inundation at this location.

The photos below provide an indicative illustration of ‘before’ and ‘after’ Beach Scraping Works along New Brighton Beach.
